Huge congratulations to James Harrison in Year 4 who is this year's winner of our attendance competition. James had 100% attendance for the year and was entered into the draw along with 40 other children.

James says he has 100% attendance because he 'loves to learn'. He has won a brand new bike and helmet; well done James!

We are proud to receive confirmation of the renewal of the Primary Quality Mark. This recognises the exceptional outcomes achieved by the children of Ellacombe Academy in basic skills.

Learning Academy Partnership (South West)

Ellacombe Academy

I am delighted to welcome you  to the Learning Academy Partnership (South West) website.

The Learning Academy Partnership is made up of  Ilsham Church of England Academy and Ellacombe Academy which has been praised by Ofsted as being a good school with many outstanding features (Ofsted 2014). The Learning Academy Partnership is led by one Board of Directors and myself, the Executive Headteacher. I am responsible and accountable for both Ilsham Church of England Academy and Ellacombe Academy. I work in partnership, leading teaching and learning across the Partnership and be supported by Mrs Bone as the Head of Academy at Ilsham and Mrs Pitocco, the Head of Academy at Ellacombe. Heads of Academies are also responsible for the day to day management of their respective Academy.

Teaching staff are employed across the Partnership. Together we are committed to achieving 'Excellence for All' and we firmly believe that by working together together, supporting and challenging each other, sharing outstanding practice,  and resources, all children can excel and will receive the best  that our education system has to offer. Ellacombe is now well on its way to achieving OUTSTANDING status….Be amazed!....Come and see for yourself, we would be delighted to welcome you to our Academies to show you the amazing provision and outstanding learning.

The ethos in the Partnership is determined and positive; outstanding leaders and talented teachers and support staff work together, teaching and learning across the Partnership for the benefit of all our children. We are committed in our determination of high standards and the highest aspirations for all. The school community is excited about the future and being part of creating something truly great. Both Ilsham and Ellacombe have a continuing bright future!

Ilsham Academy and the former  Ellacombe School began working together in 2011. The success and benefits to both Ilsham and Ellacombe, during the past three years have been AMAZING.

At Ilsham, standards have continued to rise, as additional value is added from our outreach and National Support School work.  Our sharing of resources and our collaborative working, has meant that there has been a continued focus on improving teaching and learning and enhancing opportunities for all children.

At Ellacombe, the rapid rise in standards and transformation of the school has been very apparent.  Ofsted noted a rapid transformation.  It was less than four years ago that Ellacombe was judged as inadequate and failing in the bottom Ofsted category for Special Measures.  The recognition of many outstanding features is a testament to the dedication and expertise of an exceptional team of staff, across the Partnership, who are completely committeed to developing outstanding practice and improving the life chances for children.

Ofsted were extremly impressed by the behaviour and learning attitudes of the children at Ellacombe and amonst many other outstanding recognitions, judged behaviour to be 'Outstanding'.  Inspectors agreed that the excellent teaching at Ellacombe enables all current groups of children to make outstanding progress.  Ofsted also noted that achievement for our younger children is outstanding  because of the consistent high quality provision.

Visitors to Ellacombe are amazed by the space, the facilities, small class sizes and sparkling outstanding learning environments.

I feel very privileged to be leading The Learning Academy Partnership at this exciting stage of its development, working together for the benefit of all children across our communities.

Each Academy retains and develops its own special ethos and distinctiveness; Ilsham has strong links to St Matthias church.  Its ethos is underpinned by Christian beliefs and values which are lived out in the daily life of our academy.
